What is a Rhizotomy?

A rhizotomy is a procedure used to severe the connection of a nerve root in the spinal cord. A small incision is made and a laser, or other endoscopic tools, are used to locate and cut the medial nerve branches.

If you find that more conservative methods of pain relief have not worked, then this may be the procedure for you.

The process is done under local anesthesia and is very low risk, while having a high rate of success and pain relief caused by nerve compression by joints. Full range of motion may be limited post operation, but will usually return with proper physical therapy.
